Rotaract Kenya Karaoke Idols: 0.001% Talent, 99.009% Pure Fun

The long awaited Rotaract Karaoke Talent search finally did happen and it fell nothing short of what it had promised. Well, it was just a bit less than 100% pure fun and a bit more than 0% talent. Thank God the judge, Mr. Kwame, who was also the guest artiste in the house did not breathe “Ian Mbugua’s wrath” on the participants otherwise we would not have experienced the 99.009% pure fun. Rotaractors from various clubs gathered at KP’s Club and for the better part of the afternoon, it was all fun, fun, fun as the performs showcased their skills with their vocals and the spectators cheered them on. Of course RCNC was represented with the VP Otieno Nyadimo treating the audience to a surprise performance from one of his singles. Now, many of us had no idea he was a performing artiste in the making and his sterling performance fell nothing short of that. Just for the record, lets all be aware that RCNC has got massive potential in its membership and this was evident by the powerful voices of one Eve Ochiel and our very own president Huma Kaoga Kaseu who choses to make his relationship with music a top secret and unless you are keen on listening to his vocals, you are most likely to go past him without much of a notice. And without a doubt, our vocal powerhouses need not worry when shooting their videos. In the house, some were surprised for the first time at the dancing prowess and flexibility of one Caroline Njoki. She sure is a plus for the music videos.

And so the day came to an end with RCNC emerging 3rd after the Rotaract Club of Nairobi East which came in as second runners-up and The Rotaract Club of Milimani which carried the day as “Rotaract’s Karaoke’s finest”.

The Karaoke event is first among a series of events that are being organized by Rotaract Clubs in Kenya as they fundraise towards the 24th Rotaract District Conference and Assembly which will be held next year from 19th-21st April at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre.
